Day 4: Yoga X

February 10, 2010 at 10:46 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

Just finished Day 4: Yoga X. First of all Yoga used to always be my choice of workout, I absolutely love yoga. However, I have noticed that my yoga routines are nothing like the Yoga X!!! My last attempt at Yoga X several weeks ago, I had to stop at like 30 min into the video. Today, I made it 45 minutes. This is all due to an issue with my back. All of the twisting and turning, threw my back out last time, this time I didn’t allow it to get that far. I stopped once it started hurting, but realized I must be making an improvement due to the fact that I got further into the workout this time! WOOHOO. Maybe someday I can get all the way through with no back issues!?!

As for food, I had scrambled egg whites and 1% cottage cheese this morning for breakfast, had some homemade potato skins with lowfat cheese and turkey bacon on top. Getting ready to start dinner shortly and making homemade spaghetti with ground turkey and 7 grain noodles.

Day 3: Shoulders & Arms AND ARX

February 10, 2010 at 3:08 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

Just finished Day 3: Shoulders & Arms and of course ARX. I did ARX this morning after I got up. Did Shoulders and Arm tonight now drinking a protein shake and feeling awesome! I got a lot more protein in today yet still had troubles with it. Yesterday I think I was at 20/50/30 and today I was at 40/45/15. Definitely made an improvement from yesterday, but still have troubles getting in so much protein and less carbs. Didn’t realize how much I love carbs until I started cutting them out.

Tonight I had lemon herb crusted tilapia, 1% cottage cheese, whole grain roll and brocolli. I’ve actually never had tilapia but the recipe seemed easy and yummy, I LOVED IT!!! It will definitely be on my list of yummy healthy foods!

Day 2: Plyometrics

February 9, 2010 at 3:53 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

Oh how I dislike you plyometrics! I forgot just how painful you are to me!Well, I obviously did Plyometrics today and I hate to say it, but I only made it through about 30 minutes. I have a horrible knee problem and I thought I was doing pretty good until it started giving in. It felt as though it was going to pop out of place. I knew it was time to stop, as I have had it actually slip out of place and its not very much fun. It usually puts me out for several days, and if I allow that to happen, I will not be able to continue in my P90X journey. Therefore, I had to put a stop to Plyo. I’m still in pain though and I know tomorrow will be worse. I guess I just have to keep “bringing it” right?

As for food, I am attempting to follow the nutrition program this time and I noticed that I am having a hard time to get that much protein in my diet. I also noticed that I consumed a lot of carbs which I didn’t think I had until I went to log all my food in. Man how quickly those carbs can sneak up on you!

Well, drinking my protein shake now, then off to bed!

Redo: Day 1

February 7, 2010 at 11:56 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Ok I’m finally back! I’ve been away for quite some time due to a family crisis, my son has been officially diagnosed with bipolar disorder and it’s been a whirlwind with this process, that I literally had no ability to focus on myself or anyone else for that matter. My time has been strictly devoted to him and him only. Amazingly enough, I did not gain any weight in this process as I attempted to at least still eat healthy. Sure I had nights that weren’t so healthy, but for the most part I think I did okay.

Today I’m back in the game. My husband is watching the super bowl and I’m not a football fan, therefore why not work out to some P90X right? Chest and back done as well as ab ripper. Hoping and praying that I’m not nearly as in pain tomorrow as I was with my last time around. It felt good afterwards though to have accomplished getting back into it. Hopefully I will make it the full 90 days this time around!

Hmmmm now what

January 21, 2010 at 1:20 am (Uncategorized) (, , )

Unfortunately life happens and sometimes it is just not good at all. My 10 year old son was at school on Monday and threatened to kill himself. After picking him up and taking him to the hospital, he was admitted into a children’s psychiatric ward for evaluation. I’ve been feeling completely not myself for the last few days, and hoping he will come home soon. He has been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder since being admitted and has started a new round of medications which I am strongly hoping will help him. He has always had some issues, and had previously been diagnosed with ADHD. I had felt as though none of the medications, each and every single one we have attempted, just simply was not working. I guess I stopped taking him for new medications as I felt as though the doctors weren’t listening to me. No one seemed to truly want to help him but me, so I thought that maybe my husband and I were the only ones who could honestly help him simply by being there, caring and being committed to creating a loving home for him.

Although Bipolar Disorder is a horrible mental illness, I am confident that he is on the road to recovery and that mine and his voice are finally being heard by the doctors. Needless to say, I have not worked out since Sunday. Due to my several day absence, I am going to start P90X all over again from Day One once my son gets home and is in my loving arms. Until then, I won’t be around much.

Day 10: Legs & Back AND Ab Ripper X

January 17, 2010 at 5:41 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

So I haven’t had the chance to do any posts over the past couple days, barely had time to get in any workouts. It’s been a very hectic few days. I did my Day 9: Yoga X on Friday, however again, I didn’t make it very far. I threw my back out again with this one, and decided to take yesterday off due to the pain of my back. Today seemed to be feeling better, so I went for it. Got Legs & Back AND Ab Ripper X done today. About half way through legs & back, I almost gave up and turned it off. I had to keep pushing myself to get through it. Not due to pain, more due to just not wanting to workout. I got through it though, and now am thankful that I did because I always feel great after working out. It’s getting through it that sucks.

My reps on the pullups weren’t very good, but I was holding back the bands to really feel the burn. Overall, I think I did very well today, I did the exact same amount of reps as they do on the video today which meant maximum burn right? There were even a few that I did one or two extras at the end.

As for Ab Ripper X. It’s painful as always but I did well and feel as though I am starting to see some difference versus last week.

Due to the few days I had to take off, my end of week 2 won’t be until tomorrow. Pics will be updated at that time for my end of week 2. Excited about making it this far, as with other videos, I usually give up by now. Well, off to make some homemade and “clean” soups for my lunches at work for this upcoming week. I noticed last week that this really helps keep me on track. Last weekend I made taco soup with lots of beans, corn, tomatoes & peppers. Delicious yet healthy. Today I am making homemade chicken and noodle soup. Making the noodles out of wheat flour and egg whites versus the usually white flour and whole eggs as I normally do. This will keep it healthier. Also going to add in some carrots this time which I normally don’t do either.

Til tomorrow friends!

Day 8: Plyometrics

January 13, 2010 at 3:10 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

Oh man not only was a sore this morning from Chest & Back yesterday, but Plyo definitely did not help matters. Again, I couldn’t make it all the way through but I did notice that I made it through longer than last week! I guess that is an improvement and that is all I can ask for. I was sweating like a pig and thought I was going to die, literally haha. Tomorrow I am going to be super sore I’m sure.

Today I ate good, had oatmeal and skim milk for breakfast, a protein shake for a mid morning snack, homemade taco soup for lunch and water, had an orange for afternoon snack and a chicken fajita for dinner with whole wheat tortillas, baked chicken and peppers cooked in olive oil. It was quite delicious and topped it off with another water. I am really loving the fact that I am eating several times a day. Even thought the meals are small, it doesn’t seem like it when you are eating all day.

Jumped on the scale today  for the first time since starting P90X and have lost 3 pounds! YAY!

Day 7: Chest & Back AND Ab Ripper X

January 12, 2010 at 2:18 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , )

I noticed today that my quantity of push ups are getting higher. Maybe not by much, but still. Also, during the first time around with Chest & Back, I did modified pushups, so I don’t really know if they counted haha. Today I was nervous about trying real pushups but I survived. My son also told me during my workout that he could see my biceps. I don’t think I’ve ever seen my biceps so that is definitely an improvement as well.

Ab Ripper really seemed to hurt today for some reason but I was able to complete every single ab exercise! This was my first time without taking breaks part way through. Not to mention that the last exercise, I completed 50 instead of the 40 that ask for in the video. I really wanted to push myself this time.

Ok so not much to report today. I’m sure I will be sore tomorrow as my arms are sore just typing right now. I’m being pretty consistent with taking my protein shake and I have noticed that I am not in near as much pain since drinking that regularly.

Day 6: Kenpo X

January 10, 2010 at 6:35 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , )

Wow today was quite a workout! I have realized that I love Kenpo X!!! Ok so first of all, I woke up this morning and my butt and backs of my thighs were hurting from yesterday’s workout. They hurt so much that I honestly didn’t know if I could go through with today’s workout. It would have been very easy for me to skip today. I didn’t though, I decided I HAD to do it, after all I had 2 days off this first week and I needed to stick with the program. My body can’t afford to take a third day off. Besides, I didn’t get fat from working out, I got it from NOT working out. The only thing that is going to change it is to stick with the program.

With today’s workout I really had a problem with keeping up with all of the punches. I was a little confused in the beginning of each exercise. I tried my best though to get right into it. I also must say that I was really sweating today and downed 2 bottles of water during this workout. Which is honestly great for me because I HATE WATER. I never drink water, but I’ve been really trying to make the effort. However, everytime I workout to P90X, I definitely get water in my system. I can’t imagine doing the workout without my water. Although I may not drink much the rest of the day, I look at it as “at least I am getting more than I used to”. Maybe it will get better over time, but 1-2 per day is better than my 0 per day previously.

I know that normally tomorrow would be a rest day, but since I took 2 days off this week I’m going to go right back into it. Oh I don’t think I ever mentioned it, but I’m doing the Classic version. So, here are my Week 1 pics:

Day 5: Legs & Back AND Ab Ripper X

January 9, 2010 at 6:50 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , )

I took yesterday off because Fridays have always been my day off as my husband and I, and our children always have a family night on Fridays. Therefore, no working out, no sports, just quality family time together.

I got up early this morning and got started on my workout for the day. I did the legs and back and felt fantastic. The only thing I really have to complain about today was the lack of water breaks. There really weren’t many today and considering we do not allow food or drinks in our living room, I had to pause the video to go to the kitchen and get a drink each time. I also must admit that the wall squats were not nice. They hurt horribly but the exercise that hurt the most was the calf raises! When I got to the 10 fast ones, I felt like my calves were going to cramp up. In fact at the very end of the entire video, my left calf did indeed cramp up. Maybe I need to be adding in more milk to my diet.

The ab ripper x was and always is a good workout! This one is probably my favorite workout! I just love the idea that my baby belly is working out and will eventually be gone so long as I keep pushing play and bring it!

As for my diet, as I previously stated I am following weight watchers. I have no problem with sticking to the diet and I love that I can eat whatever I want so long as I stick with my points. I did break down last night though and ate some butter popcorn while we watched some family movies together. It really wouldn’t be so difficult if my husband didn’t refuse to eat healthy or workout. If I tell him I’m making something healthy, he will won’t eat it and will eat something else. I’ve found away around that though, I am no longer telling him that something is healthy. I made chicken fajitas the other night and they were made really healthy, but I didn’t tell him that, and he ate 3 of them! Lesson learned I suppose. No more mentioning the word “healthy”.

I decided to add in my weekly dinner plan as well. Monday nights my husband has pool league so we have leftovers or frozen dinners, I have a scrapbooking night on Thursdays, so same thing on those nights as well.

Saturday: Shephards Pie & homemade biscuits

Sunday: Pot Roast with baby carrot and potatoes

Monday: leftover shephards pie

Tuesday: Beef & Noodles over mashed potatoes

Wednesday: Chicken Strips coated in shake & bake, corn on the cob & baked potatoes

Thursday: leftover beef & noodles

Friday: order in (family night, we always order in on fridays). I generally check out the nutritional values on the internet at whatever place we are going to eat at. This way I can find something reasonably healthy.
